Grant Activity for 2004-2005
$253,500 awarded to CUESD on August 13, 2004.
Approved and accepted by the CUESD Board.
2. Growing with Children Grant
Application for a $1,500 grant prepared by Dawna Brandt and Michael Garofalo
on September 10, 2004.
Approved by the CUESD Board. Grant submitted to the Western Growers Charitable
Foundation.
3. School Bus Replacement Grant, Phase IV
Application for a $85,000 grant prepared by Deanna Hamilton and Michael
Garofalo on September 28, 2004.
Approved by the CUESD Board. Grant submitted to the California State
Energy Department. We did not
receive a grant award from this application.
Annual report prepared by Michael Garofalo and reviewed by Mrs. Abold on September 30, 2004.
Budget closeout on 8/30/04 and revised on 1/18/2005 coordinated by Wes Grossman and Michael Garofalo.
5. California State School Library Grant
Annual report and budget closeout report. Michael Garofalo
completed online surveys for all
5 CUESD school libraries, and prepared an annual report in March, 2005.
This source brought in $2,300 to the CUESD District in 2004-2005 for our five
school libraries.
6. Technology Plan for Corning Union Elementary School District,
2005-2010
Revise the
2005-2010
CUESD Technology Plan.
Due April 6, 2005
Revision prepared by Michael Garofalo, Frank Passantino,
Dave Messmer, Jeanie Stout, and others.
Having the CUESD Technology Plan completed enabled the
District to save $60,000 via E-Rate
discounts/reductions in 2003-2004, and bring in $21,000
in EETT formula grants in 2003-2004.
Notified on January 10, 2005, by CDE that CUESD was
awarded $22,029 for the period
7/1/2004-8/31/2006, for the Enhancing Education Through
Technology Formula Grant (EETT).
Having this plan on file entitles us to apply for the
Microsoft Settlement Funds. The revised
technology plan (85 pages) was approved by the CUESD
School Board on 3/9/2005 and
sent to Nancy Silva, CTAP2 consultant and Technology
Plan reviewer on 3/11/05.
Notified by the CDE that our
CUESD 2005-2010 Technology Plan was approved.
7. Special Education Referral Reduction Program Grant.
Those
being awarded the Reading First Grant are entitled to apply for this grant. It could
bring
in $58,500 to the District. Filing date was November 15, 2004. Prepared by Mona Miller,
Patti
Thurman and Mike Garofalo. Submitted to the CUESD Board of Trustees
on 10/10/04.
Notified on January 13, 2005, by CDE that CUESD was
awarded $58,500.
8. Urban Forest Project Funding - Maywood School
After some analysis, I recommended to Mrs. Abold that we do not apply.
9. Enhancing Education Through Technology Competitive Grant, Round 3
Application approved by CUESD Board on 1/12/04.
Focus on Maywood
Middle School. EETT grant application for
$207,000. Grant application was
written by Michael Garofalo and was mailed to the CDE
on 4/4/2005. This
application involves a cooperative project with EAST
Initiative.

10. Grant application to expand the Reading First Grant to the West
Street school starting
in 2005-2007. Prepared by Mike
Garofalo and signed by John Lalaguna in 4/05.
Potential increase of $24,000 per year.

from CDE officials.
